Here's a violinist, GERHARD TASCHNER, Czech-born, but spent a lot of time in Germany, and outside of his own time parameters of active performing, is nearly forgotten. He never had an exclusive recording contract with any label. According to Wikipedia, he was difficult, hugely opinionated, arguing with people such as von Karajan and others of that stature, but still had a career, concluding it by teaching and adjudicating. Nonetheless, the interest in the violinist has been stronger over the last few years. While having no exclusive record company, his list of recordings from live concerts and radio recordings, and his collaborators, is impressive. Pianists he performed with include Walter Gieseking, Edith Farnadi, Hubert Giesen, Michael Raucheisen, Martin Krause, and Taschner's wife, Gerda Nette, just to mention a few. When it comes to conductors, we find Fritz Lehmann, Rudolf Kempe, Hermann Abendroth, Arthur Rother, Georg Ludwig Jochum, Gustav König, Wilhelm Furtwängler and others. Cell

He studied with Jenő Hubay in Budapest 1930-32, and with Bronisław Huberman and Adolf Bak in Vienna. At age 10, he played three concertos with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under Felix Weingartner.[2] By age 17, having undertaken tours in the United States and Germany,[2] he was concertmaster at the City Theatre of Brno. In 1941, still aged only 19, he was chosen by Wilhelm Furtwängler as Concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic, while also forging a solo career. He attracted immediate attention, and his portrait was used on advertisements for the orchestra's upcoming programs.[1]
