Three brightly painted steel sculptures by artist Aaron Curry (American, born 1972) electrify the High’s Sifly Plaza for the next year. Curry originally trained as a painter, but turned to sculpture after becoming interested in the use of flat planes in the art of sculptor David Smith and legendary designer Isamu Noguchi.
In Curry’s work, the interplay between two and three dimensions encourages the experience of sculpture in the round: multiple sightlines offer views of his sculpture that alternate between flatness and dimensionality. In his own words, these sculptures are “almost like a Cubist painting . . . [they] refer to the surface but give you illusion at the same time. Aaron Curry (born 1972 in San Antonio, Texas) is an American painter and sculptor, with works in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art,[1] the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art and the San Francisco Museum of Art.[2] His work has been shown at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (in 2013) and the Katonah Museum of Art (in 2015) in New York, at the Musée d'art contemporain de Bordeaux in France (in 2014), and at the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park in Lincoln, Massachusetts (in 2017).[3]

Aaron Curry received his MFA from ArtCenter College of Design's Graduate Art MFA Program in Pasadena, CA in 2005.
