Edda mussolini

Born in Avignon the 6th of July 1973, Benoît Missolin spent his childhood in Vaison La Romaine. The bambino creates outfits for his Snoopy, scribbles dresses in the margins of his school books.

Adolescent, he sends his sketches to the main fashion houses. Christian Lacroix replies, thus begins a correspondance; the couturier acts as mentor and guide. School diploma in pocket,

Benoît Missolin makes off for Paris.

He takes courses at the school of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture, before heading off to the Studio Berçot. Then a series of apprenticeships, at Christian Lacroix — bien sur — but also at Jean Colonna, Thierry Mugler, and Fred Sathal where he is appointed assistant.

In his free time, the young man elaborates funky accessories: bags with cow-boy motif appliqués for the girls and sequined cummerbunds for the boys. He designs his first collection in 1997, but things really start to take shape in 2001 when he presents his first mixed catwalk show under a Tyrolese-Disco inspiration. The following collections go from “Croisiere a Hawai” to “Piste aux Etoile

FUNKY TREASURE JEWELLERY

A melting pot of rare and exquisite artefacts, the Bijoux de Famille's "Funky Treasure" collection is a real journey through space and time. The jewellery brand is the brainchild of Parisian designer Julie Pasquet who graduated from the renown Duperré Fashion School in Paris. She cultivated her love of colour, noble materials, and the adornment and body connection with a training in both fashion design and textiles. A year of international travel following her training confirmed what she'd foreseen — her life would be devoted to creating jewellery.

Playful Headpieces from Benoit Missolin

The French milliner’s S/S15 collection provides a brilliant reason to throw a party

Over the past decade, London-based French designer Benoit Missolin, who calls Christian Lacroix a mentor, has eschewed traditional hat shapes for statement-making headpieces that cause a double take. From lambskin leather bunny ears to gigantic glittery lips atop a headband or veils that evoke fun—not funeral—Missolin’s pop fashion accessories require a daring sense of confidence, with a dash of good humor, and a party invitation in hand.

In the just-released lookbook from his S/S15 collection, Missolin offers even grander concepts—from Marcella, a witch’s hat made from natural straw, to Tilda, a daring pink masterpiece made from duck and turkey feathers—and entertaining designs like cat ears studded with Swarovski stones to a giant plastic spider on a veil.

While these won’t be available until spring, pieces from Missolin’s current collection can be purchased from his web store.
