Sandy is a native of Chicago, of Mexican-Danish-Lithuanian-American heritage. In 1993, she followed her dream of moving to Mexico- the homeland of her maternal grandparents. She and her husband Vidal reside in his hometown- the beautiful port of Zihuatanejo- in what they call 'The Crayola House', with their three 'children': kitties Simba, Roly Poly and occasionally Guerita- the prodigal cat. Sandy has had a love of writing and has dreamt about traveling for as long as she can remember. With the exception of a few family vacations within the US, it was not until her teenage years when she first set foot in Mexico that her traveling jones officially took root. Since then, her travels so far include Mexico, Central America, Cuba and parts of Europe; Greece, Israel and Egypt top her list for future adventures. She has written many travel stories for family and friends since her adventures in Cuba during Y2K; her stories have now been compiled into 5 books. Bio:
The question of how grammars of language come to be the way they are is one of the most fundamental questions that linguists can be concerned with. My research centers around the role of everyday embodied conversational interactions in shaping morphosyntactic and prosodic patterns, an area known as Interactional Linguistics. I place a premium on cross-linguistic as well as language-specific investigations of how grammatical patterns can be seen as emergent from the exigencies of ordinary talk-in-interaction. My primary language areas are Mandarin Chinese, Wappo (a now-extinct language isolate of northern California), and English. I have also worked with Japanese, Korean, and Hmong.

Sandy Thomson is a published writer and critic's award nominated director based in Scotland. Her extensive career began in theatre, where she set up and led her company, Poorboy, for 20 years, touring domestically and internationally. She has written for and directed theatre and film, alternative reality games as well as audio and visual journeys.
She is the recipient of a Playwright Studio Scotland Award as well as Scotland's curated program Write4Film, exclusively created to promote established writers from disciplines outside of film that are now writing screenplays. She was selected for the 2020 New York Women In Film & Televsion 'The Writers Lab' supported by Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep and Oprah Winfrey.
Her debut short films 'Night Shift' 'Silver Star' and 'Crybaby Hill' were all international collaborations between artists in Scotland and the USA.
