Naomi Judd
American country singer, songwriter, and actress (1946–2022)
Naomi Judd (born Diana Ellen Judd; January 11, 1946 – April 30, 2022) was an American country music singer and actress. In 1980, she and her daughter Wynonna (born Christina Claire) formed the duo known as The Judds, which became a successful country music act, winning five Grammy Awards and nine Country Music Association awards. The Judds ceased performing in 1991 after Naomi was diagnosed with hepatitis; while Wynonna continued to perform as a solo artist, she occasionally reunited with her mother for tours as The Judds. Naomi died by suicide in 2022, on the day before she and Wynonna were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Early life
Judd was born Diana Ellen Judd to Pauline Ruth "Polly" (née Oliver) and Charles Glen Judd on January 11, 1946, in Ashland, Kentucky.[3][4] Her father owned a gas station[3] and her mother was a riverboat cook.[5] Her brother Brian died of leukemia in 1965 at the age of 17;[6] Naomi Judd's first chil

Diana Nammi has dedicated her life to campaigning for universal human rights. She spent 12 years on the frontline as a Peshmerga (Kurdish freedom fighter) and has co-authored a book; ‘Girl With A Gun: Love, loss and the fight for freedom in Iran’ about her early life. Eventually her activism in Kurdistan Iran and neighbouring countries resulted in her facing persecution, which forced her to flee.
She now lives in the UK and in 2002 she founded the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation; now IKWRO-Women’s Rights organisation; an NGO providing specialist advice, advocacy, counselling and a refuge to women and girls from Middle Eastern and North African communities in the UK affected by so called “honour” based abuse, including forced marriage, child marriage and Female Genital Mutilation, as well as domestic violence and other form of gender based violence.
As Executive Director, Diana leads IKWRO’s campaigning. Successes include the Justice for Banaz campaign, which led to the first extradition from Kurdistan Iraq to the UK of two of the perpetrators of the “
