Ex-Iloilo solon and TESDA chair Syjuco passes away

Former Iloilo Rep. Augusto “Boboy” Syjuco Jr. passed away on Monday, January 13. He was 77.
Regional broadsheet Panay News first posted on its Facebook page about the death of Syjuco around 11:40 a.m. of Tuesday.
There is no information yet over the cause of Syjuco’s death.
Syjuco served as representative of Iloilo’s second congressional district from 1998 to 2004 and from 2010 to 2010.
He also served Director General of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) during the administration of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Politiko learned from reliable resources that Syjuco died in Singapore while undergoing medication for his lingering illness.
Syjuco’s remains was immediately cremated in Singapore following his death.
Syjuco’s legal counsel Federico Roxas last March said the former congressman was “slowly dying” due to “advanced myelodysplastic syndrome.”

ILOILO City – Former Iloilo 2nd District congressman Augusto “Boboy” Syjuco passed away. He was 77.
Also a former director general of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) during the administration of then president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Syjuco died on Jan. 10 in Singapore, a source close to Syjuco told Panay News last night.
There had been scant information about the death. The source told Panay News Syjuco had been seeking treatment for Advanced Myelodysplastic Syndrome, a disease of the blood, in Singapore since last year.

He was cremated after he died, said the source who asked for anonymity for lack of authority to speak on the matter.
Syjuco’s ashes are expected to be flown back by his family to the Philippines this week.

A.G. Syjuco (born Augusto Cesare Amado R. Syjuco in August 1980), also known as Black Leather Birds, is a music producer, composer, and musician originally from Manila, Philippines. He is the eldest son of avant-garde artists Cesare Syjuco and Jean Marie Syjuco and is the producer, principal composer, and primary instrumentalist of the experimental rock band Jack of None.[1]
