Josie Newlon Bowen; 82; passed away Sunday, January 27, 2008 in Life Care of Collegedale. Mrs. Bowen was born in Cleveland, Ohio, but had been a lifelong resident of Collegedale. Mrs. Bowen was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Inez Newlon; brother and sister in law, James Granville and Marguerite Newlon; and her husband, Dr. Dewitt Bowen who passed away, January 13, 2008. Josie was the epitome of a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother to her family. She made her home a refuge. Her cooking skills were enjoyed by her family and community. Her other talents included baking, sewing and china painting. She had an incredible ability for seeing God's beauty in flowers. She was head deaconess of Collegedale Church for many years and organized bereavement meals for her church family. Everyone knew Josie as the essence of elegance and grace.
